Antenna Distance Calculator
Various questions can arise when setting up a radio bridge. For example, what is the transmitting power available over a given distance, or what is the maximum possible separation of a transmitter and receiver while maintaining a certain data rate? Depending on the demands and the purpose of the installation, a variety of access points and antennas may be suitable.
The LANCOM Antenna Distance Calculator allows you to make an initial estimation of the performance available from particular combinations of equipment. You proceed as follows: You simply select your LANCOM access points, the desired frequency band, the cables to be installed and the LANCOM AirLancer Extender. You can then enter more precise information such as the distance to be bridged, you can decide whether you prefer a more pessimistic estimation of transmitting power, and whether your calculations should include a "poor-weather reserve".
By the way: The Calculator also allows for third-party antennas that are connected to LANCOM access points. Simply select "Other antenna" from the menu and enter the corresponding antenna gain. Give it a try!
