No security breach with LANCOM devices

Devices from LANCOM Systems unaffected by "Heartbleed"

Aachen, April 14, 2014—LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of network solutions for the commercial and public sectors, announces that their full range of VPN routers and WLAN products is unaffected by the vulnerability in the OpenSSL library that has become known as "Heartbleed". Similarly unaffected are the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client and the LANCOM range of switches.

All LANCOM routers and access points are "Made in Germany". The devices are designed to provide the highest levels of security, and they are guaranteed to be free of backdoors. Further, the proprietary closed-source operating system LCOS provides optimum protection against attacks. Although LCOS uses the cryptographic algorithms of the OpenSSL library, it does not use the functions of the TLS stack that are affected by the "Heartbleed" bug.

The functions of the TLS stack are based on cryptographic algorithms developed in-house by LANCOM Systems and are not affected by "Heartbleed".

The "Heartbleed" bug results from a faulty TLS implementation in the widespread OpenSSL library. It is not a fundamental problem of the TLS protocol.
