Aachen, January 17, 2022—German network infrastructure and security supplier LANCOM Systems is adding to its wireless LAN portfolio with a new Wi-Fi 6 outdoor access point. The LANCOM OW-602 is the ideal solution for stable and professional Gigabit Wi-Fi in open spaces with many concurrent users. Parking spaces, cold stores, production halls, or warehouses can also be networked using this robust, IP67 protection-rated outdoor model. The LANCOM OW-602 is managed either highly automatically from the LANCOM Management Cloud or using an intuitive web interface. It can also be managed by a WLAN controller.

With aggregated data rates of up to 1,775 Mbps, the LANCOM OW-602 is the ideal device for environments with low to medium levels of user traffic. The supplied omni-directional antennas provide wide-ranging coverage. Optional sector antennas support the targeted coverage over specific areas. Support of point-to-point or point-to-multi-point links is planned from February 2022. The scope of delivery also includes components for wall or pole mounting

Protective housing for the most extreme conditions

Reliable operations under extreme conditions are ensured by the dust-proof and water-resistant IP67 protective housing and an extended temperature range of 30°C to +65°C. Power is supplied on the basis of PoE 802.3at either via a PoE switch or an optional PoE injector.

Integrated Bluetooth Low Energy technology

The Bluetooth Low Energy radio module integrated into the LANCOM OW-602 supports modern BLE beaconing-based applications, such as asset tracking or visitor counting.

WPA3 and backdoor-free security

A comprehensive range of security features such as WPA3-Personal, IEEE 802.11i (WPA2-Personal), IEEE 802.1X (WPA3-Enterprise, WPA2-Enterprise), as well as the simple, user-friendly connection of new clients via QR code ensure maximum Wi-Fi security.

As the holder of the “IT Security made in Germany” trust mark, LANCOM has also committed to keeping its products free of secret backdoors. This means the LANCOM switches, access points, routers, firewalls and the LANCOM Management Cloud operate at all times in compliance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), even in sensitive environments.

Versatile management and cloud-ready

The LANCOM OW-602 operates as a standalone unit or as managed from the cloud. When operating standalone, an intuitive web interface (WEBconfig) provides an ideal overview: Modern dashboards display the current Wi-Fi status and simplify the configuration of individual networks (SSIDs) and network keys. When managed with the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC), the device supports zero-touch deployment for fully automatic configuration by the software-defined networking (SDN). It can also operate with a WLAN controller or with a virtual controller in a LANCOM vRouter.

Future viability with guaranteed updates

For maximum investment protection, LANCOM offers free security and feature updates for up to two years after the product's end of sale (EOS). In the case of a device warranty that extends beyond this period, feature updates are guaranteed for up to five years after EOS. In many cases, critical security fixes and support reach far beyond that.

The LANCOM OW-602 is available now for EUR 749 (excl. VAT) with a three-year warranty (five years optional). The LANCOM PoE++ Injector required for operation without a power supply by PoE switch is available at a price of EUR 109 (excl. VAT). Weatherproof Ethernet cables for integrating the LANCOM OW-602 into the network are available from EUR 49 (excl. VAT).
