Aachen and Karlsruhe, October 19, 2017—The German network manufacturer LANCOM Systems, based in Wuerselen near Aachen, Germany, is opening new development facilities. On October 1, a team of 13 developers started to work in Karlsruhe, Germany. The experienced network and security specialists around manager Andreas Grosse come from the British security specialist Sophos. They reinforce the existing LANCOM development team in the areas of Wi-Fi, cloud, and security solutions.

The opening of this new site is the latest chapter in the history of LANCOM Systems' growth. Founded in 2002 as a management buyout from the then ELSA AG, LANCOM today has more than 300 employees developing and marketing secure network infrastructure solutions for corporate customers and the public sector. LANCOM expects further growth through the increasing demand for intelligent networks based on cloud technologies and software-defined networking (SDN).

Demand for specialists

The company's ongoing growth and the ever-accelerating innovation cycles in the network industry have led to a strong build-up of resources in the areas of hardware, software and cloud development. Today, about one third of the LANCOM team works in research, development, and quality assurance.

“We have a steadily rising demand for specialist personnel, which we can no longer fully meet at our company headquarters near Aachen,” says LANCOM founder and Managing Director Ralf Koenzen. “The new site in the technology region around Karlsruhe gives us access to a greater talent pool. The fact that we can start immediately with an experienced team of experts is a real windfall.”

The focus of the Karlsruher developers is initially on the areas of Wi-Fi, cloud and security solutions. In particular, the new team will provide support to further accelerate the ongoing development of the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC) and its associated technologies. The LMC is the world's first solution for hyper-integrated network management based on the latest cloud and SDN technologies. It provides the highly automated creation and management of entire corporate networks (SD-WAN, SD-LAN, SD-WLAN) by means of a central platform.
