Aachen, May 22, 2017—LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of networking solutions for business customers and the public sector, continues to expand their range of switches with the LANCOM GS-2328 series. These Gigabit switches are a high-performance component for modern network infrastructures for any industry or application. Optionally, these models can be configured and managed automatically from the LANCOM Management Cloud by means of software-defined networking (SDN). This makes handling even the most complex, multi-site network infrastructures extremely easy and efficient.

The LANCOM GS-2328, the LANCOM GS-2328P and the LANCOM GS-2328F each have 28 ports and complement the existing LANCOM portfolio of 8- to 52-port switches with three fully managed Gigabit devices for high-performance networks.

The LANCOM GS-2328 is equipped with 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 4 SFP+ ports that support transmission rates of up to 10 Gbps. With a data throughput of 128 Gbps on the backplane, it offers full performance even under maximum load.

The PoE variant LANCOM GS-2328P additionally offers Power over Ethernet and supplies power to connected PoE devices such as IP telephones, access points, or surveillance cameras. The switch supports the two Power-over-Ethernet standards IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at (PoE+), with an overall output of 370 Watts. This makes the GS 2328P ideal for efficiently supplying power to the increasing number of PoE devices with high power requirements.

The LANCOM GS-2328F is the first “fiber-optic switch” from LANCOM. It is equipped with 20 SFP ports, 4 combo ports (TP / SFP) as well as 4 SFP+ ports for transmission rates of up to 10 Gbps, which make it capable of high-speed data transmissions even over distances of several kilometers. This makes the device an ideal central distribution instance within the network for connecting further switches.

With all three devices, the ports can be bundled with LACP according to IEEE 802.3ad. This achieves speeds of up to 40 Gbps by bundling the uplink ports.

Highly efficient management via software-defined LAN

The switches are optionally managed either by the conventional LANCOM management tools or they integrate into the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC). In combination with the LMC, network administrators benefit from highly efficient switch management by software-defined LAN (SD-LAN). SD-LAN orchestrates the port profiles for each switch and automatically assigns the necessary network configuration, including VLANs. At the click of a mouse, switch configurations that are fully customized to each site's network architecture are simultaneously rolled-out or updated.

Configurable access control

The switches offer numerous security and management functions: IEEE 802.1X, (port-, single-, multi- and MAC-based), quality-of-service (QoS), as well as VLAN tagging as per IEEE 802.1q. What is more, the incoming and outgoing data traffic is prioritized with a wide range of QoS features. Thanks to the dual-stack implementation, the devices operate in pure IPv4, pure IPv6, or in mixed networks to provide full future viability.

Secure remote management

Secure communication protocols such as SSH, SSL and SNMPv3 enable professional remote network management. The switches also support the TACACS+ protocol for authentication, authorization and accounting.

All new switches are available now and have a 5-year warranty on all components.
