The LCOS promise

Secure, reliable and sustainable

LCOS is developed at our headquarters in a maximum security zone that is certified by the BSI (the German Federal Office for Information Security). Several times a year LCOS benefits from software updates with new features and enhancements. Moreover, the quality seal "IT Security Made in Germany" (ITSMG) from an independent authority guarantees that LCOS is free from backdoors. LCOS constantly undergoes quality testing so that it offers the highest degree of reliability for professional network infrastructures. Thanks to hardware that is dimensioned for the future, LANCOM products are designed for a long service life and support of the latest versions of LCOS. Even our older devices that no longer support current versions of LCOS are, when necessary, provided with bug fixes that are based on the latest available firmware. LANCOM offers unbeatable safeguarding of your investment.

Structure of a version number

To help make our publishing process more transparent, the following explains the structure of our version numbers based on the example of the release candidate LCOS 10.12.0034 RC1:

LCOS: LCOS: Name of the operating system

10.12: Major version name of the firmware version. The designation has no fixed pattern but is always in ascending order.

0034: Four-digit build number, which increases as development progresses. The numbering is reset for each new LCOS version, with higher numbers indicating a more recent stage of development.

RC1: Indicates the type of the LCOS version and has an ascending number. For each major version of LCOS the count is restarted.

The next step for this firmware is “RC2”, generally followed by the actual release, which is continuously tested and further developed. This leads to the designations “RU1” or “SU2”, and so on.
