Indoor Access Points

Indoor access points enable the wireless integration of mobile devices into local networks such as office environments, schools, local retail shops or hospitals. The modern LANCOM access points – available with internal or external antennas – support simultaneous frequency band operation (dual-radio in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and provide the required Wi-Fi performance for any application due to the Wi-Fi standards Wi-Fi 6 / IEEE 802.11ax, Wi-Fi 5 / IEEE 802.11ac, and Wi-Fi 4 / IEEE 802.11n.

Reliable, fast WLAN always and everywhere

Indoor access points provide wireless networking of devices via wireless LAN. The transmission rates used by the access points depend on the supported WLAN standard. With IEEE 802.11ac, data rates of up to 1300 Mbps can be achieved. Dual-radio access points operate in parallel in the 2.4-GHz and the 5-GHz frequency bands to provide high-speed, wide bandwidth wireless connections for a wide circle of users. LANCOM also offers access points for operation in harsh environments or public areas. These are equipped with metal housings and anti-theft mechanisms. The indoor access points from LANCOM support security features such as IEEE 802.11i (WPA2) and IEEE 802.1X. The LANCOM indoor access points optionally operate autonomously or in combination with WLAN controllers.

Better WLAN performance and efficient troubleshooting

Particularly in environments with a large number of clients and access points, radio-field optimization is often a requirement. With band steering, you automatically direct the WLAN clients to the preferred frequency band, and thus achieve higher data throughputs. Spectral scan is a convenient tool for radio-field analysis. The utilization of each WLAN channel is displayed graphically—an aid to efficient WLAN troubleshooting.

Efficient configuration of WLAN infrastructures

Access points in remote networks are optionally managed by a central controller. The practical significance of this becomes clear when rolling-out new WLAN infrastructure. The new access points merely have to be connected via a network with IP access. Configuration is carried out centrally via the Controller. This means that WLANs can be rolled-out or upgraded without having specially trained technicians on location.

Cost-effective WLAN management with LANCOM routers

The LANCOM WLC Basic Option for Routers allows you to manage entire WLAN infrastructures from your LANCOM router. Up to 6 LANCOM access points or WLAN routers in the LAN or accessible at remote branch offices or home offices can be managed by a LANCOM router with the LANCOM WLC Basic Option. This is a low-cost alternative to a separate WLAN controller.

LANCOM Public Spot – the easy all-in-one hotspot solution

Wireless LAN makes it easier than ever for you to offer high-speed Internet to your guests, customers and partners. Quick and easy to install, WLAN hotspot solutions enable guests to use their own laptop, tablet or smartphone to access the Internet. In hotels, convenient guest access can be provided in their rooms or in selected areas such as the lobby or conference rooms.

The integrated Smart Ticket function ensures that the client receives the login data for the hotspot automatically via SMS or e-mail. Or as an alternative, vouchers can be printed out. The LANCOM PMS Accounting+ option is the recommended central billing system for guest access accounts. When the hotspot is used, details are automatically sent to the central PMS server for logging and billing by the hotel's accounting system. As an alternative it is also easy to set up free guest-access accounts at hotels, if required. Thanks to virtualization (VLAN) or a layer-3 data tunnel, the operational network can be separated from the guest network, even though they share the same network infrastructure. This absolutely secure division into logical networks makes it impossible to gain unauthorized access to internal data.
