Version 2.32 for 32- and 64-bit Windows 8.1

New LANCOM VPN client now supports Windows 8.1

Aachen, November 19, 2013—LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of professional network solutions, supports Windows 8.1 with the latest version 2.32 of their IPSec-based Advanced VPN Client. Another special feature: Even with an IPv6 Internet connection, the client is still able to establish an IPv4 VPN tunnel to the remote station. This allows for a smooth migration from IPv4 to the IPv6 protocol not only on the gateway side but on the client side as well. This is particularly interesting for Internet connections without a public IPv4 address from the provider.

What's more, the VPN client transmits data over 3G/4G connections by means of the "Windows Mobile broadband interface" to ensure the maximum possible data transfer rates. The software also supports seamless roaming so that it can automatically switch between different networks (e.g. between WLAN and 3G/4G). This ensures that online applications, such as remote desktop connections, can survive a change of connection without the VPN client disconnecting.

It goes without saying that the program includes a personal firewall. This allows firewall rules to be directly enabled or disabled at the click of a mouse. Creating pre-defined rules is just as easy. Furthermore, the interface allows rules to be defined for data transmission with the IPv6 protocol.

This client works with all current 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. The advantage for companies is clear: Even with heterogeneous infrastructures, professionals can work with a single, universal client to manage remote access. The benefit: Lower costs for administrators, the user help desk, and on training.

The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client version 2.32 supports 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, and it is available now. Customers who already operate the Advanced VPN Client 2.3 can upgrade to version 2.32 free of charge.

A 30-day demo version is available for download from the LANCOM web site.
