Secure SD-WAN with multi-WAN over VDSL, fiber & 5G incl. VoIP
With the all-in-one solution LANCOM 1936VAG-5G, you can meet highest performance requirements on the branch office side: The combination of two integrated VDSL Supervectoring modems, a dual-SIM 5G modem, and an optional fiber optic connection ensures a highly available multi-WAN connection for your locations – even with business-critical data traffic and increased data volumes. With 5G cellular radio, primary operation with low latency for real-time applications or intelligent backup scenarios can be cleverly implemented. The parallel use of multiple Internet lines distributes the load in the network ideally and makes optimum use of the bandwidth (load balancing). Centralized network management via the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC) rounds off the overall package of the LANCOM 1936VAG-5G and automates your administration of medium-sized and large networks.
- Secure SD-WAN – centralized cloud management with secure network separation, automated provisioning, and intelligent path control
- Multi-WAN – two integrated VDSL Supervectoring modems (operable in parallel) for up to 2x 300 Mbps or alternatively use of a modem at a G.fast connection, high-speed Internet via fiber optics (GPON and AON modules available separately), and Gigabit Ethernet for connection of external modems (1x WAN Ethernet), 1x SFP/TP combo
- Load balancing for the active/active operation of several Internet lines and maximization of the available bandwidth
- Integrated 5G modem, usable with 1x eSIM and 2x physical SIM cards (dual-SIM), for maximum network availability and low latencies in primary 4G/5G operation or in parallel with other access types
- Professional telephony features thanks to integrated LANCOM VCM (Voice Call Manager) & SBC (session border controller)
- Continued use of existing ISDN and analog components via 2x ISDN S0 (NT) for point-to-point or multipoint line configuration, 4x analog (internal) / fax
- 25 simultaneous VPN connections (100 optional)
- Network virtualization with up to 64 networks on one device (ARF)
- Full-metal housing with front-facing connections and integrated 230V power supply unit for mounting in a 19" rack
- Extended protection with the content filter of the LANCOM Security Essentials Option
Intelligent networking with Secure SD-WAN
With Secure SD-WAN, you can centrally manage and protect your entire network: via the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC), you define global security and access policies that are rolled out fully automatically and continuously monitored – from headquarters to branch offices. This significantly accelerates rollouts, configurations, and updates.
Encrypted Auto VPNs, High Scalability and Advanced Mesh VPNs, Dynamic Path Selection, and active/active WAN with intelligent load balancing ensure that business-critical applications always use the optimal transmission path. In addition, the LANCOM Security Essentials option further enhances security through centralized content filtering and URL blocking – for resilient and future-proof site networking.
Optimal bandwidth utilization with multi-WAN via VDSL and fiber
At enterprise locations with different WAN infrastructures, you need routers that flexibly support multiple Internet access types simultaneously. The gateway provides two integrated VDSL Supervectoring modem with up to 2x 300 Mbps, or alternatively one G.Fast connection with up to 1,000 Mbps, an SFP/TP combo port for fiber-optic lines (FTTH via optional GPON/AON module), as well as Gigabit Ethernet for external provider modems. Thanks to load balancing (active/active), all WAN interfaces can be used in parallel, optimizing traffic distribution and increasing the available bandwidth. At the same time, the parallel connection ensures increased reliability – even in the event of malfunctions or failure of one connection.
High network reliability with 5G cellular communications
Ensure reliable operation of your enterprise networks – even under changing network conditions, outages, or capacity constraints of other access technologies. The 5G-enabled gateway with two integrated SIM card slots, including eSIM support, is suitable for primary operation, intelligent backup scenarios, as well as hybrid active/active architectures. Thanks to low latency and stable bandwidth, a secure 5G mobile network effortlessly supports time-critical and data-intensive cloud, edge, and real-time applications.
Multi-layered security – automatically integrated
Security mechanisms in LANCOM routers are not an add-on, but are firmly integrated from the very beginning (“Built-in Security”). The stateful inspection firewall embedded in the LCOS operating system, along with the…
A client is connected to the Internet via the LANCOM 1936VAG-5G in active/active mode (load balancing). Load balancing is used to distribute the load of the data volume in the network across Internet lines used in parallel. In this way, data connections are distributed evenly over (at least) two lines and the individual bandwidths of the lines are added together. In this scenario, the load balancer integrated in the SD-WAN gateway decides whether to use Internet line 1 (5G) or Internet line 2 (VDSL supervectoring) depending on the load. Even if one line fails, the connection via the other line is always secured.
Several clients are connected to the Internet via the multi-WAN SD-WAN gateway and VDSL Supervectoring. Now, for example, two clients with a load balancer integrated in the router can work in parallel, each with a download speed of 300 Mbps, as this enables the data load to be distributed across both Internet lines. This enables a maximum load of 600 Mbps to be achieved, resulting in an enormous increase in network efficiency.
The 5G modem integrated in the SD-WAN gateway is not only suitable for intelligent backup scenarios or parallel operation, but can also be used for 4G/5G primary operation. 5G offers fast and flexible Internet with data rates in the gigabit range without the costly installation of wired Internet lines. This means that 5G mobile communications can also be used for real-time applications such as video streaming or augmented reality (AR) with extremely low latency.
With the integrated load balancer, IKEv2 VPN connections can also be conveniently combined into a load balancer network. Regardless of whether the network is realized with a LANCOM SD-WAN gateway, a LANCOM SD-WAN central site gateway (e.g. LANCOM ISG-5000), or the LANCOM vRouter, the load is better distributed and the data traffic is automatically taken over if one connection fails. This significantly increases the VPN bandwidth for multiple clients.
The integrated Voice Call Manager and Session Border Controller make the multi-WAN SD-WAN gateway ideal for a seamless migration from ISDN / analog to All-IP. SIP lines can be permanently bound to the desired Internet connection (All-IP line 1 or 2) as required. The load balancer is used to distribute the Internet traffic.
