LANCOM Systems optimizes throughput and quality of WLAN networks

Aachen, December 23, 2015—LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of networking solutions for the commercial and public sectors, present the latest free update to their operating system LCOS. With the LCOS version 9.18, LANCOM customers benefit from better coverage, stability and throughput in their wireless networks.

A major contribution to this are the enhancements to the LANCOM WLAN optimization concept ARC, now available with LCOS 9.18.

Active Radio Control (ARC) combines a variety of intelligent WLAN optimization technologies. In addition to previously available tools such as band steering, adaptive noise immunity and client steering (http://www.lancom-systems.com/en/solutions/technology/arc-active-radio-control/overview/), LCOS 9.18 now enhances ARC with "Adaptive RF Optimization". This feature enables access points experiencing serious radio-field interference to dynamically select a better WLAN channel. This achieves a significantly higher WLAN throughput under difficult conditions.

Also new is "Airtime Fairness", which makes more effective use of WLAN bandwidth. The available bandwidth is fairly divided between the active clients, so that slow clients no longer slow down the faster ones.

In addition, LCOS 9.18 offers a host of new features such as Wireless IDS and Adaptive Transmission Power, which provide better security in the WLAN, longer ranges and an even more stable WLAN coverage.

LCOS 9.18, further information on all new features and updates, along with detailed data sheets are available for free download from the LANCOM website:
