Aachen, Kornwestheim, April 29, 2020—The German network infrastructure manufacturer LANCOM Systems and the technology group Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise have joined in a technology partnership. As a part of the cooperation, Alcatel-Lucent is expanding its VoIP PBX systems to include security components from LANCOM. Certified by Alcatel-Lucent, the Session Border Controller (SBC) in the VoIP VPN routers from LANCOM opens up new possibilities—particularly for smaller companies—for secure and seamless migration from ISDN/analog telephony to All-IP networks.

The VoIP VPN routers from LANCOM with their integrated Session Border Controller supplement the Alcatel-Lucent PBX systems OXO ConnectTM and OXO Connect EvolutionTM with added security for SIP-trunk migrations. Among other things this ensures the reliable separation of internal and external networks, and it provides professional management tools together with the secure encryption of the signaling and voice data.

The IPsec VPN feature, which is also integrated in the LANCOM routers, is the basis for secure remote maintenance, license and software updates as well as access to other cloud services. Remote workers with Premium Deskphones are also connected by VPN for high security.

As an overarching solution, the new service concept from Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise provides secure services that allow employees to work reliably from home and companies to support their business continuity management. For instance, office phone numbers are easily forwarded to other numbers or mobile devices with a simple click. Furthermore, it is also possible to conduct video conferences or share screens and documents for effective interactions with customers, partners or colleagues from the home. The optimal interplay between the LANCOM VoIP-VPN routers and the Alcatel-Lucent PBX systems OXO ConnectTM and OXO Connect EvolutionTM was confirmed by Alcatel-Lucent in extensive tests. The certification covers all current VoIP models of the LANCOM 88x VoIP and LANCOM 17xx VAx series.

Benjamin Lay, Director of Technical Sales and Services, SMB & Channel Support Europe & North at Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, emphasizes: “Our partnership with LANCOM helps us to create genuine added security for customers wishing to connect up to 300 subscribers to the Alcatel-Lucent OXO Connect PBX systems. Just as the need for secure connectivity has little to do with a company’s size, the issue of whether or not to use an SBC is irrelevant: It is an integral part of the new end-to-end solution.”

“Reliable business telephony with networking to the home office are essential to remain competitive. Together, we offer a high-performance service concept with enterprise-class security particularly for small and medium-sized customers,” adds Jan Buis, Vice President of Business Development at LANCOM Systems GmbH.
