Aachen, March 01, 2021—The German network infrastructure supplier is expanding its range of routers. The new high-speed business routers LANCOM 1926VAG and LANCOM 1926VAG-4G for the first time combine two VDSL Super Vectoring modems in each device. They alternatively operate on a G.fast or fiber-optic gigabit connection, or with a cable modem. Additionally equipped with an LTE-Advanced module, the LANCOM 1926VAG-4G is a guarantee of highest availability. The routers optionally operate highly automatically by means of Software Defined Networking (SD-WAN). They are ideal for installations with high bandwidth requirements in branch infrastructures.

The two LANCOM 1926-series models are the first routers on the market with two integrated VDSL Super Vectoring modems for a total 2x 300 Mbps. Alternatively, they operate using one of the two modems at up to 1,000 Mbps on a G.fast connection, or directly on high-speed fiber-optic connections by means of an SFP port. They can also operate with any external DSL or cable modem via WAN Ethernet. The dual-SIM LTE Advanced modem integrated into the LANCOM 1926VAG-4G ensures fast cellular access at up to 300 Mbps.

The new VPN routers of the 1926-series also seamlessly integrate IP-based telephony. Be it for connecting to cloud services, using HD streaming, multimedia and voice applications (All-IP), VPN or Wi-Fi guest access—these routers are the ideal solution for companies that operate numerous bandwidth-intensive services on their xDSL connections.

Both devices use up to four Internet connections at the same time for maximum bandwidth and effective load balancing. By means of Advanced Routing and Forwarding (ARF) with up to 64 isolated and independently routed IP contexts, they efficiently route of all of the IP applications through a single central router while keeping the different communication channels securely separated from one another. The standard equipment of 25 IPsec VPN channels (optionally 100) provides strong encryption to connect branches or mobile employees securely to the corporate network.

On the LAN side, four gigabit switch ports provide numerous options for connecting network devices, while two ISDN and four analog interfaces ensure that existing telephony components integrate seamlessly into the All-IP network.

Professional telephony functions

The routers offer a comprehensive range of telephony functions including QoS, and they control all of the router-based PBX functions for SIP, ISDN and analog components. Each features an integrated Session Border Controller to ensure that external (unsecure) and internal (secure) networks are kept separate.

Radical simplification of the configuration with SD-WAN

When combined with the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC), the new routers open the way to fully automated management. The Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN) enables the automatic setup of secure VPN connections between sites, including network virtualization and backup across the wide-area network: A few mouse clicks is all it takes to enable the VPN function and select the required VLANs for each site. The laborious configuration of individual tunnel endpoints is no longer necessary.

Next-generation SD-WAN: High Scalability VPN (HSVPN)

The routers also support High Scalability VPN (HSVPN), which optimizes the scalability and efficiency of network architectures. Where previously each individual application required a separate VPN tunnel, HSVPN bundles any number of networks into a single VPN tunnel and transports them collectively to the remote site—with each network remaining secure and strictly isolated from the others. There is a major advantage to this: Significantly fewer VPN tunnels have to be configured, which also means they are re-established much faster in the event of a failover.

The LANCOM 1926VA4G is available for EUR 1,399 (excl. VAT), the LANCOM 1926VAG-4G for EUR 1,699 (excl. VAT). The 1G fiber-optic module LANCOM SFP-SX-LC1 is available for EUR 119, the LX version LANCOM SFP-LX-LC1 (1G) is available for EUR 199 (excl. VAT).
