LANCOM LW-500 for small and medium networks

LANCOM Systems launches Wi-Fi 5 access point in smoke-detector design

Aachen, April 23, 2019 - With the LANCOM LW-500, German network infrastructure supplier LANCOM Systems is extending its hardware portfolio with a powerful Wi-Fi 5 access point in smoke-detector design. The combination of discreet looks, high data throughput and low price makes the 802.11ac Wave 2-compatible Wi-Fi access point the ideal solution for environments where access points are required in high density, such as in the hotel industry. At the same time, cloud readiness and software-defined networking maximize efficiency and ensure future viability. The LANCOM LW-500 is available now from LANCOM specialist resellers.

Wi-Fi has evolved from a technological innovation to being a key requirement for the equipment of buildings, public facilities and businesses. Even for small and medium-sized environments, stable Wi-Fi coverage is a critical factor when it comes to productivity and customer satisfaction.

Understated, smoke-detector design

The white, round housing of the LANCOM LW-500 in its smoke-detector design helps it to blend in seamlessly with any surroundings. Its understated look with internal antennas make the Wi-Fi 5 access point ideal for ceiling mounting in hotel rooms and meeting rooms. Two integrated radio modules provide fast Wi-Fi to 11n-clients in the 2.4-GHz frequency band and also to the growing number of 11ac-enabled devices in the 5-GHz band. Power is supplied via Power over Ethernet as per IEEE 802.3af. Alternatively, the LANCOM LW-500 can be supplied using the power adapter unit and country adapter shipped with it.

Versatile management and cloud-readiness

The LANCOM LW-500 operates as a standalone unit or as managed from the cloud. When operating standalone, a newly designed and intuitive web interface (WEBconfig) provides a perfect overview: Modern dashboards display the current Wi-Fi status and simplify the configuration of individual networks (SSIDs) and network keys.

When operated with the LANCOM Management Cloud, the LANCOM LW-500 offers convenient management via the cloud. Software-defined networking means that, following network authentication, the configuration takes place fully automatically and without manual intervention (zero-touch deployment).

Backdoor-free security

The LANCOM LW-500 provides comprehensive protection with a range of built-in security features such as the IEEE 802.1X security policy and the convenience of QR-code key sharing for new clients. A decisive plus in trustworthiness comes with the LANCOM LW-500 thanks to the German manufacturer's guaranteed freedom from backdoors.

The LANCOM LW-500 is available now from LANCOM specialist resellers at a price of EUR 399 excl. VAT. The 10-piece bulk package is available for EUR 3,849 excl. VAT.
