Aachen, February 15, 2021—The German network infrastructure supplier LANCOM Systems further expands the top end of its switch portfolio with the LANCOM XS-6128QF. The new top model is a 10G stackable managed fiber aggregation switch for mid-sized, distributed enterprise networks, that has been optimized for efficient operation, versatility and high availability. Optionally managed from the cloud, it supports software-defined networking for dynamic and highly automated commissioning.

With a total of 20 SFP+ ports (10G), including 4 multi-gigabit Ethernet combo ports (1G/2.5G/5G/10G), the LANCOM XS-6128QF integrates into the network topology either at the top level facing the WAN (two-tier design) or between core switches and access switches (three-tier design). It provides a massive backhaul capacity either via 2 QSFP+ (40G) or 4 SFP28 (25G) high-speed FleX uplink ports.

Non-blocking backplane stacking with 400 Gbps (full duplex) switch capacity is implemented via 4 SFP-DD FleX ports (50G). Maximum flexibility comes with four board types that are configurable via the GUI or CLI and that enable six different port combinations or port functions, for example 24 SFP+ and 4 SFP-DD ports or 20 SFP+ and 8 SFP28 ports.

Maximum operational reliability

The switch optionally features two integrated “hot-swappable” power supply units that can be exchanged quickly and without interruption in the event of a defect. Furthermore, it is equipped with exchangeable fans for maximum resilience. Front-to-back airflow design also improves cooling in 19-inch racks and extends the product lifetime. LANCOM fail-safe stacking also helps with the implementation of high-availability, high-performance infrastructures.

Configurable access control and security

The LANCOM XS-6128QF supports numerous security and management functions such as IEEE 802.1X, (port-, single-, multi- and MAC-based), access control lists (ACLs), as well as VLAN tagging as per IEEE 802.1q. Furthermore, the incoming and outgoing data traffic is reliably prioritized with a wide range of Quality-of-Service (QoS) features. Secure communication protocols such as SSH, SSL and SNMPv3 enable professional remote network management. The switch also supports TACACS+ for authentication, authorization and accounting. Dual-stack implementation allow the switch to operate in pure IPv4, pure IPv6, or mixed networks.

Dynamic routing & DHCP server

In addition to the classical distribution functions of a switch, the LANCOM XS 6128QF can handle layer-3 tasks to offer, for example, a DHCP server or policy-based dynamic network routes across one or more network segments. The protocols OSPFv3 for routing between local networks (LAN) and BGP4 for routing between provider networks (WAN) are supported for this purpose.

Highly efficient management via SDN & cloud

The switch can be managed using the web GUI, from the command line, or optionally via the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC). In combination with the LMC, network administrators benefit from highly efficient cloud management by software-defined networking (SDN). All the necessary network configurations including VLANs are automatically assigned and coordinated across locations. With a click of the mouse, the rollout and updates are executed at the same time.

The LANCOM XS 6128QF is available now at a price of EUR 12,990. The standard warranty lasts 5 years and covers all components.

A wide selection of optional modules allow the system to adapt optimally to individual application scenarios: The 10G SFP-SX module LANCOM SFP-SX-LC10 costs EUR 329, the 10G-LX version costs EUR 379. The LANCOM SFP-SR-LC25 module is available for EUR 499, the LR version LANCOM SFP-LX-LC25 costs EUR 695. The 40G-QSFP+ module LANCOM SFP-SR-MPO40 is available for EUR 599 and the LR version LANCOM SFP-LR-LC40 costs EUR 4,990.

LANCOM also offers direct attach cables in different lengths. Prices range from EUR 109 for the LANCOM SFP-DAC10-1m to EUR 269 for the LANCOM SFP-DD-DAC50-2.5m cable. The optional PSU LANCOM SPSU-250 is available for EUR 399. A replacement fan LANCOM SFAN-XS6 costs EUR 349.

All prices are exclusive of VAT.
