Next generation LANCOM R&S®Unified Firewalls keep coming

New entry-level firewall UF-60 with comprehensive UTM cybersecurity

Aachen, March 29, 2021—The German network infrastructure supplier LANCOM continues to remodel its range of desktop firewalls. Even the new entry-level model in the portfolio, the LANCOM R&S®Unified Firewall UF-60, offers top-class cybersecurity for small companies, branches or home offices; this includes comprehensive Unified Threat Management (UTM) and the latest cybersecurity technologies such as sandboxing and machine learning. The UF-60 is available now from LANCOM specialist resellers.

This change of generation for the first time sees an entry-level model offering the same, full range of functions as its bigger siblings: Powerful SSL inspection for encrypted data traffic, protection against highly complex APT cyber attacks through the integrated R&S®PACE2 deep packet inspection engine, the precise classification of network traffic, protocols and applications, as well as protection against data leakage and data loss (data loss prevention, DLP) up to layer 7. To protect against malware and viruses, even including zero-day exploits, suspicious files are analyzed using machine learning in a shielded sandbox. The associated cloud service is hosted in Germany and complies with European data-protection regulations.

This next-generation firewall is designed for smaller offices, branches or retail chains and, with an IDS/IPS throughput of 700 Mbps, it delivers more than three times the performance of its predecessor, the UF-50. It is therefore ideal for use on gigabit connections.

Graphical user interface & cloud management

The intuitive web interface helps users to provide the highest levels of cybersecurity. Human error in the configuration of the firewall is greatly reduced as the network firewall rules are clearly and intuitively displayed in graphic form. Displayed in a browser, the centralized management GUI enables granular fine tuning and offers a comprehensive overview of the implementation of company-wide security and compliance requirements.

A user-friendly installation wizard takes care of the initial configuration within minutes. Furthermore, the firewall uses a simple pairing process to connect to the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC), a system that enables transparent monitoring, including alarms about the device status, and remote configuration from the cloud.

The LANCOM R&S®Unified UF-60 is available now at a price of EUR 449 excluding VAT. A Basic license is required as a minimum to operate the firewall and receive software updates. A Full license enables all of the UTM functions. The licenses are available with terms of one, three or five years.

The UF-60 has a three-year warranty, with an optional extension to five years. Support is provided by the LANCOM Support Center. A detailed overview of the range of models and further information on the LANCOM R&S®Unified Firewall family are available here:
