LANCOM E-series access points

What is the coverage range of the ePaper radio module in the LANCOM LN-830E Wireless and the LANCOM L151E Wireless?

The signal strength of the radio module for updating LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays is above the radio coverage of WLAN. Therefore, the range of WLAN at 2.4 GHz is a good indicator.

Is it possible to subsequently integrate Wireless ePaper technology with LANCOM access points of the E series into existing WLAN installations or do I have to renew the complete infrastructure?

The access point of the E series and the innovative displays can be seamlessly integrated in your existing network infrastructure and centrally administrated via the LANCOM Wireless ePaper Server. If you already have a LANCOM WLAN infrastructure, the LANCOM access points of the E series are ideal to extent the WLAN with the use of LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays. For an existing infrastructure by other manufacturers, the LANCOM L-151E Wireless is an ideal and low-priced solution for an extension with Wireless ePaper Displays. In this case, the WLAN radio module of the LANCOM L-151E Wireless should be switched off to avoid interferences with the 3rd party WLAN.

Is an outdoor device planned with a radio module for the steerage of LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays?

LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays are developed for the application in indoor areas. They are neither waterproof nor weatherproof and are thus not recommendable for the application in outdoor areas. Therefore, there is no outdoor device with Wireless ePaper radio module planned.

Is a mixed environment of LANCOM access points and LANCOM access points of the E series recommended?

A mixed environment of LANCOM access points and LANCOM access points of the E series is no problem. Nevertheless, you have to consider that you need an active connection between the access point of the E series and the corresponding Wireless ePaper Displays.

LANCOM Wireless ePaper technology

How does the data transmission between LANCOM Wireless ePaper Server and LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays work?

The Wireless ePaper Displays and the access points of the E series are registered at and administrated via the LANCOM Wireless ePaper Server. For updating a display, the server sends the required data via an access point with connection to the corresponding display.

Are there any security measures in order to prevent the misuse of a third party?

The misuse and manipulation of the LANCOM Wireless ePaper technology is avoided by two security measurements: Pairing and encryption. The displays are supplied with a registration code which is displayed on the Wireless ePaper Displays as delivered. With this code the display is “paired” with an instance of the LANCOM Wireless ePaper Server, so that it can only be registered, monitored, and steered via this server instance. In addition to that, the communication between access point and displays is encrypted (AES 128).

What is the specific term of the radio technology on which the display communication is based?

The radio technology for updating LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays is based on a proprietary protocol. There is no specific term.

Do the different radio modules interfere with each other?

Thanks to an optimal coordinated technology in the LANCOM access points of the E series, the trouble-free parallel operation of WLAN, LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays, and iBeacon is guaranteed. This combination of parallel radio technologies in one access point is a real world’s first.

Is it possible to combine calendar management and ERP systems with the administration of Wireless ePaper Displays?

The LANCOM Wireless ePaper Server offers a flexible programming interface (API) for the connection with calendar management and ERP systems. For further information concerning the connection to calendar management and ERP systems, contact one of our ePaper service partners.
