In which sizes are LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays available?

LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays are available in the sizes 7.4 inches (800 x 480 pixels) and 4.2 inches (400 x 300 pixels).

Which illustrations are possible with the LANCOM Wireless ePaper displays?

With LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays you can illustrate texts and images in black, white, and red as desired, bearing in mind the defaults concerning the image format. In order to illustrate detailed graphics with shadowing, the proper dithering functions have to be considered.

Which application scenarios are possible?

The LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays offer a variety of creative application possibilities for every industrial sector. From room signage in business environments, applications in medical institutions, reservations signs in restaurants, to price labeling in the retail sector; there is no limit for your creative ideas concerning the indoor application of the displays.

Do LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays provide background lighting?

LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays are developed for the application in indoor areas. A separate lighting inside the displays is not included. The WDG-3 displays are equipped with an integrated LED, which is freely programmable and can thus be used to signal, for instance, image changes.

Is the radio connection of the LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays encrypted?

Yes, the radio connection between access point and wireless ePaper displays is secured by an encryption based on AES 128.

How long does an update of the Wireless ePaper Displays take?

On average an update is completed within 15 seconds. Concerning the quality of the radio connection and data size of the image, the upload can possibly take a few more seconds.

How long is the average life span of the batteries?

The LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays have a battery lifespan of up to 5 years (with 2 updates per day on average).

What is the coverage range of the ePaper radio module LANCOM access points of the E series?

The signal strength of the radio module for updating LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays is above the radio coverage of WLAN. Therefore, the range of WLAN at 2.4 GHz is a good indicator.

Is it possible to subsequently integrate Wireless ePaper technology with LANCOM access points of the E series into existing WLAN installations or do I have to renew the complete infrastructure?

The access point of the E series and the innovative displays can be seamlessly integrated in your existing network infrastructure and centrally administrated via the LANCOM Wireless ePaper Server. If you already have a LANCOM WLAN infrastructure, the LANCOM access points of the E series are ideal to extent the WLAN with the use of LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays. For an existing infrastructure by other manufacturers, the LANCOM LX-6200E is an ideal and low-priced solution for an extension with Wireless ePaper Displays. In this case, the WLAN radio module of the LANCOM LX-6200E should be switched off to avoid interferences with the 3rd party WLAN. LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays are developed for the application in indoor areas. They are neither waterproof nor weatherproof and are thus not recommendable for the application in outdoor areas. Therefore, there is no outdoor device with Wireless ePaper radio module planned.

 

Is an outdoor device planned which contains a radio module for controlling LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays?

LANCOM Wireless ePaper Displays are designed for use in indoor areas. They are neither waterproof nor weather-resistant, so their use in outdoor areas is not recommended. For this reason, an outdoor device with a Wireless ePaper radio module is not currently being planned.

Is a mixed environment of LANCOM access points and LANCOM access points of the E series recommended?

A mixed environment of LANCOM access points and LANCOM access points of the E series is no problem. Nevertheless, you have to consider that you need an active connection between the access point of the E series and the corresponding Wireless ePaper Displays.
