LCOS 9.24

Wi-Fi real-time positioning & Hotspot features for providers

With the new LCOS version 9.24 LANCOM presents a new, useful feature for real-time location via Wi-Fi together with our strategical partner AiRISTA (former Ekahau): LANCOM Wi-Fi products support the RTLS (Real Time Location System) of AiRISTA. In addition to that LANCOM offers hotspot providers support of RADIUS CoA (Change of Authorization) for even more to control and adjust in their hotspot.

Feature highlights

AiRISTA Flow Blink Mode (former Ekahau Blink Mode)

LCOS 9.24 enables the integration of AiRISTA Real Time Location Systems into LANCOM infrastructures. This way, persons, items, and devices can now be positioned professionally and reliably within a Wi-Fi environment. Whether the positioning of patients in a hospital, the tracking of mobile machines in warehouses, or the location monitoring of working devices – the compatibility of LANCOM and AiRISTA enables real-time positioning for any industry and field of application.

Further feature

Support of RADIUS CoA (Change of Authorization) in the Public Spot

In scenarios with external hotspot servers, RADIUS CoA enables e.g. the adaptation of the available bandwidth or the deletion of active clients. This way the hotspot provider benefits from an improved control for implementing his terms of use, for instance with regard to exceeding the data volume.

Note: Before any LCOS update, be sure to backup your current device configuration. Devices featuring the "Firmsafe" function have the option of an initial "test mode" firmware upload. The new firmware is activated permanently only if the device has been accessed with a log-in or for configuration purposes before the pre-set time period has expired. Otherwise, the device switches back to its former version.
