LANCOM presents new SD-WAN (VoIP) gateways with VDSL and 5G mobile communications

Aachen, May 6, 2024—LANCOM Systems is expanding its 1800-series of gateways in their new “blackline” housings for the high-availability VPN networking of offices and branches. The SD-WAN (VoIP) gateways LANCOM 1803VA-5G and 1800VA-5G offer an extraordinary range of interfaces—VDSL, fiber-optic, cable Internet via external modems, and 5G—for small and medium-sized company sites. The optional parallel use of multiple Internet connections ensures ideal load balancing and maximum flexibility for business-critical applications and higher data volumes. 5G additionally allows for intelligent backup scenarios as well as low-latency primary operation for real-time applications. Thanks to the secure connection of branch offices and mobile workstations via VPN as well as telephony components (1803VA-5G only), the new gateways ensure maximum operational continuity and reliable protection of company data. Both models optionally offer a high degree of automated operation in an SD-WAN via the LANCOM Management Cloud.

The LANCOM 1803VA-5G and the 1800VA-5G both feature an integrated 5G and VDSL Super Vectoring modem for up to 300 Mbps. They also connect directly to a fiber-optic line (FTTH) using a separately available SFP module (GPON/AON). These devices also offer maximum flexibility for connecting to external modems via Gigabit Ethernet.

Secure connection of branches and mobile workstations

For maximum bandwidth and effective load balancing, all devices in the new LANCOM Gigabit router line can use up to four Internet connections concurrently. Up to 16 isolated and independently routed IP contexts in combination with Advanced Routing and Forwarding offer an elegant means of running all IP applications over a single router while at the same time keeping the various communications channels separate. The standard equipment of five IPsec VPN channels (optionally 25) provides strong encryption to securely connect branch offices and mobile workplaces for the reliable protection of corporate data.

Telephony all-rounder

With the LANCOM 1803VA-5G, existing ISDN and analog components can remain in use via two ISDN S0 connections for point-to-point or multipoint line configuration, or even via two analog/fax connections. Equipped with professional telephony features such as the LANCOM Voice Call Manager (VCM), the LANCOM 1803VA-5G acts as an SD-WAN VoIP gateway for classic telephony management. It integrates all types of SIP, ISDN, or analog telephony components. Furthermore, the LANCOM VCM offers the typical features of a Session Border Controller (SBC).

Focus on sustainability

LANCOM considers the responsible use of resources to be hugely important. A clear goal in developing the blackline housing was to further improve eco-design aspects over the classic CPE housing throughout the entire life cycle—from the upstream value chain to the production and through to the end of life. For example, local production of the housing in the Netherlands and production of the router in Germany ensure that transport and procurement routes are short. The design is optimized for recycling as part of the circular economy.

Availability and prices

The LANCOM 1803VA-5G is available for EUR 1,890 (excl. VAT), the LANCOM 1800VA-5G for EUR 1,790 (excl. VAT). The 1G fiber-optic module LANCOM SFP-AON-1 is available for EUR 119 (RRP excl. VAT), the GPON version LANCOM SFP-GPON-1 is available for EUR 159 (RRP excl. VAT).

Accessories

The LANCOM CPE blackline Rack Mount (EUR 139, RRP excl. VAT) offers flexible positioning of the device, as both a front-facing and rear-facing installation is possible. After mounting, either the status LEDs on the front can be viewed or the interfaces on the back can be accessed easily.

The LANCOM CPE blackline Rack Mount Plus (EUR 249, RRP excl. VAT) guarantees easy handling and maximum convenience thanks to connectors that are redirected to the front. In this way, the status LEDs of the installed device can be read and, at the same time, the cabling can be conveniently checked and adjusted as required.
