Aachen, February 16, 2017—LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of networking solutions for business customers and the public sector, is showcasing the latest in enterprise networking at this year's CeBIT (Hanover, Germany, March 20–24). The headline exhibit at the LANCOM booth (Hall 12, D29) is the LANCOM Management Cloud. This solution uses software-defined networking (SDN) technologies to reduce the management and monitoring of even complex networks to just a few mouse clicks. At the same time LANCOM launches a broad portfolio campaign including a new line of Gigabit access points as per IEEE 802.11ac Wave 2, a massive expansion of the switch line, and the first virtual software router.

The LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC) is the new benchmark for innovative, future-proof and automated network management. Using the very latest software-defined networking (SDN) technologies, the LMC makes it easy to handle networks of any size and complexity, while at the same time minimizing the time requirements and the costs of management and monitoring. It operates as a central instance to handle the configuration of all of the network components in the WAN, LAN and WLAN; it then rolls-out these configurations to the components fully automatically (zero-touch deployment).

All current LANCOM routers, gateways, switches and WLAN access points are LMC-enabled by software upgrade. This means that LANCOM is offering the most comprehensive, economical and versatile solution for efficient, SDN-based network management (SD-WAN, SD-LAN, and SD-WLAN).

Enterprise-class Wi-Fi with Wave 2

With the new enterprise-class access points of the 860- and 1700-series based on IEEE 802.11ac Wave 2, LANCOM is expanding its Wi-Fi portfolio to the next level. Features such as multi-user MIMO provide significantly more Wi-Fi bandwidth and facilitate scenarios such as the “all-wireless office”. Even critical applications such as media streaming, HD video conferencing, or accessing large files are reliably handled by Wi-Fi thanks to Gigabit speeds. The new Wave 2 access points are configured either in the conventional manner or they are managed and monitored using the centralized and convenient LANCOM Management Cloud.

Full range of switches for demanding enterprise networks

On the way to becoming a full-range supplier for sophisticated enterprise networks, LANCOM exhibits its massively expanded switch portfolio at CeBIT. For starters, there is a new line of fully managed LANCOM Gigabit Ethernet switches. They offer a comprehensive range of security and QoS features that are fine-tuned for operation with LANCOM routers and access points, and that enable network virtualization. What's more, these models optionally offer full-functionality operation with the LANCOM Management Cloud. This means that even complex network configurations involving VLANs are rolled out securely, automatically, and across multiple sites.

Routers go virtual

LANCOM's innovation in routing: The LANCOM vRouter is a virtual, software-based VPN router that provides, for example, VPN access for cloud-based applications. It provides a flexible basis for networks with maximum scalability: From routers for small scenarios up to the central-site VPN gateways with up to 1,000 VPN channels.
