Networking concepts for the industry of the future

Hannover Messe: LANCOM Systems presents software-defined networking for Industry 4.0

Aachen, March 12, 2019 – The network infrastructure provider LANCOM Systems will be presenting its solution portfolio at the Hannover Messe trade fair from April 1 through April 5. Under the motto “Industry 4.0 Requires: Secure Networks 4.0”, LANCOM will be showing how state-of-the-art networking concepts, such as software-defined networking (SDN), lay the foundations for efficient digitalization of industrial manufacturing. The LANCOM booth, D18 in Hall 5, will also showcase the company’s comprehensive hardware portfolio for WAN, LAN, WLAN, digital signage and IoT, and, for the first time at a trade fair, the LANCOM IAP-4G+ LTE router for harsh environments.

With manufacturing processes becoming more and more connected, the underlying infrastructure turns into a mission-critical factor for enterprises. Secure networks are the prerequisite for the digital transformation of production, value and supply chains and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). With its presence at the world’s leading trade fair for industrial technology, LANCOM is addressing this development with an innovative portfolio of networking solutions.

Maximum efficiency and effective protection

With state-of-the-art software-defined networking, LANCOM offers enterprises an agile network infrastructure that adapts dynamically to changing requirements. Network design and management are highly automated by the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC). When it comes to network security, the integrated networking and security solutions made in Germany also mean that organisations benefit from effective protection from a single source.

Future-proof solutions for the Industrial IoT

A further highlight at the trade fair will be the extended LANCOM IoT portfolio. The recently launched Wi-Fi 5 WLAN access point LANCOM LN-830U enables easy integration of a wide range of IoT devices via USB sticks for numerous IoT wireless standards. More transparency, efficiency and overview in merchandise logistics are provided by cutting-edge digital signage solutions based on wireless ePaper technology, which digitalize all processes that were previously paper-based. By driving the IoT readiness of its components, LANCOM supports the digital transformation of industrial manufacturing processes enabling the “smart factory”.

New: LTE router for harsh environments

In addition to its comprehensive hardware portfolio for WAN, LAN, WLAN, IoT and digital signage, LANCOM will be presenting the LANCOM IAP-4G+ for the first time at a trade fair. This LTE router enables reliable Internet in warehouses, logistics and covered outdoor areas that do not have a wired Internet connection. Its robust all-metal housing is highly dust-proof and suitable for temperatures from -20 °C through +50 °C. With integrated IPSec VPN functionality and an in-built LTE Advanced Modem for up to 300 Mbps, the device provides professional site connectivity via the cellular network and fast data transfer – to link up automated systems, machines and surveillance equipment.
