New 10-port Gigabit PoE switch from LANCOM Systems

LANCOM GS-2310P for small-business and home-office networks

Aachen, August 26, 2014 - LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of networking solutions for the commercial and public sectors, adds a new device to its line of switches.

The LANCOM GS-2310P is a managed layer-2 switch featuring 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports and two combo ports (TP/SFP). Extensive security features including port-based access control as per IEEE 802.1X, TACACS+, SSH, SSL and SNMPv3 make this a rounded security component for modern enterprise networks.

Thanks to its size, its quiet fan, and its rugged, non-slip metal housing, it is ideal for use in small offices and businesses, or home offices. Supporting Power over Ethernet as per IEEE 802.3af/at, it efficiently powers up to eight network components even with high power consumptions (cumulative power consumption up to 130 watts on all ports). Thus there is no need for separate power cords for products like IP telephones or Gigabit WLAN access points as per IEEE 802.11ac, such as the LANCOM L-13xx series.

The quality and reliability of professional networks depends heavily on the switches they employ. With this new Gigabit switch, LANCOM offers customers and sales partners a component that is fully compatible to the LANCOM product range in the familiar LANCOM quality. The status of the connections is clearly displayed on the front of the switch. The integrated power supply unit and the high degree of energy-saving as per IEEE 802.3az (inactive ports are switched off automatically) underscore the professional nature of this device. With full IPv4 and IPv6 support, the switch is a future-proof platform offering dual-stack operation for the transitional period.

An adapter for installation in 19" cabinets is supplied.

Configuration and management of the switch are performed with a convenient web interface, by command line, with Telnet, or via the serial port (RJ-45). Connections can also be encrypted with SSL, SSH, SNMPv3 or HTTPS. Furthermore, the device seamlessly integrates into the LANCOM management tools LANconfig, LANmonitor and the LANCOM Large Scale Monitor (LSM), and it supports SNPv2 management thanks to its integrated MIB.

The LANCOM GS-2310P is available now and comes with a 5-year warranty. An optional SFP-SX module (LANCOM SFP-SX-LC1) or the LX version LANCOM SFP-LX-LC1 are also available from LANCOM.
