Aachen, January 31, 2022—The German network-infrastructure and security supplier LANCOM Systems is expanding its range of switches. With the GS-3152P, LANCOM is expanding its 48-port SMB access-switch portfolio to include a PoE switch based purely on Gigabit technology for cost-effective networking of less data-intensive end devices such as IP telephones, printers, or PCs. This switch can be configured and managed either conventionally or by using the LANCOM Management Cloud with its software-defined networking (SDN).
The LANCOM GS-3152P is equipped with 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports, as well as 4 SFP ports. With a data throughput of 104 Gbps on the backplane, it offers full performance even under load. As a PoE switch, it supplies power to PoE devices such as IP phones, wireless access points and surveillance cameras directly from the network. The switch supports the two PoE standards IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) on 36 ports, with an overall output of 370 Watts. This makes the GS-3152P ideal for supplying power to the increasing number of PoE devices that have moderate power requirements.
Static routing & DHCP server
The LANCOM GS-3152P supports static routing, the basic layer-3 feature that enables these switches to perform a range of routing tasks. Predefined network routes via one or more network segments accelerate data exchange, especially where internal data volumes are high, and they reduce the load on the router. Router capacities are freed up to handle the external data traffic. This improves efficiency across the network as a whole.
As a DHCP server, the switch is independently able to assign IP addresses, so it can fully handle the IP management in the network it is connected to.
Highly automated management via the LANCOM Management Cloud
Like all fully managed switches from LANCOM, the LANCOM GS-3152P is optionally managed by the conventional LANCOM Management Tools or integrated into the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC). In combination with the LMC, network administrators benefit from highly efficient switch management by software-defined LAN (SD-LAN). At the click of a mouse, the switch configurations that are fully customized to each site's network architecture, as well as the virtual LANs (VLANs), are rolled-out or updated simultaneously.
Access control & secure remote management
IEEE 802.1X, (port-, single-, multi- and MAC-based), quality-of-service (QoS), as well as VLAN tagging as per IEEE 802.1q equip the LANCOM GS-3152P with comprehensive security and management functions. Furthermore, the incoming and outgoing data traffic is prioritized by QoS. Thanks to the dual-stack implementation, the switch operates in pure IPv4, pure IPv6, or in mixed networks to provide versatility and future viability. Secure communication protocols such as SSH, SSL and SNMPv3 enable professional remote network management. The LANCOM GS-3152P also supports the TACACS+ protocol for authentication, authorization and accounting.
The LANCOM GS-3152P (EUR 1,090 excl. VAT) is available now. The LANCOM SFP-SX-LC1 is an optional 1G multi-mode SFP module for distances of up to 550m and costs EUR 119 excl. VAT; the LANCOM SFP-SX2-LC1 variant for distances of up to 2km also costs EUR 119 excl. VAT. The LANCOM SFP-LX-LC1 1G single-mode SFP module for distances of up to 10km is available for EUR 149 excl. VAT.
Like all fully managed switches from LANCOM, this switch comes with a 5-year warranty on all components. Furthermore, the LANCOM Software Lifecycle Management provides free feature and security updates.
