Aachen, December 13, 2017—LANCOM Systems, the leading German manufacturer of networking solutions for business customers and the public sector, today released an update to its software VPN client for MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Pro, etc. Version 3.0 of the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for macOS supports the operating system macOS High Sierra (10.13) and enables full remote access to a company network via any Internet connection by means of high-performance IPSec VPN.

The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for macOS belongs to the Apple-compatible family of solutions from LANCOM: VPN routers, VPN gateways, and access points based on IEEE 802.11ac/n. The LANCOM Advanced VPN client is a universal tool providing connectivity to all IPSec-compliant routers and VPN gateways.

As well as supporting macOS High Sierra, the latest version of the client also supports IKEv2 and IKEv2 Redirect. This allows the client's VPN tunnel endpoint to be automatically redirected to another gateway. This facilitates efficient load sharing in environments where multiple gateways are deployed. In addition, the client can be installed and operated to be FIPS compliant (Federal Information Processing Standard).

Further innovations include the modernization of the client's graphical interface and an intelligent tunneling mechanism: This automatically switches to an alternative connection protocol if a link cannot be set up over standard IPSec. The user thus has the possibility of connecting to the central network via a VPN even when Internet access is restricted, for example when hotspots are configured with prohibitive security settings, or in 3G/4G networks. Communications function optionally via modem, (wireless) LAN, 3G/4G or iPhone tethering (with USB or Bluetooth).

The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for macOS offers high-end security features for professional VPN connections in larger, heterogeneous networks: A port-based stateful inspection firewall with its own firewall rules for known and unknown networks, authentication using X.509 certificates and a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptography module.

The LANCOM Advanced VPN Client for macOS in English and German is available now from specialist resellers for EUR 99.00 plus VAT. Customers who activated a license for the LANCOM Advanced VPN Client after September 08, 2017, or who have a license that has not yet been activated, will receive the upgrade to the latest version for free. An upgrade version from older versions is available for EUR 59.00 (excl. VAT). A free 30-day trial version is available for download from the LANCOM web site.

Version 2.02 of the LANCOM VPN client for macOS for older versions of OS X is also available for download:
